Lovely Flowers to Calm You

My Good Friend sent me a very beautiful Powerpoint presentation & I was messing around with my computer and converted it into a movie! Not too bad for my first attempt. I've got to take some IMovie classes one of these days.

While you watch the lovely flower gardens, read the sayings on the top of each picture.

The Happy Yellow Daisies above are from my garden, I took the photo. They grow to be four feet high & flank a walkway along my garage. When I walk by, I feel like I"m in a lush meadow, not this crappy, murderous city! People getting mugged & knifed in the middle of downtown during lunch hour. At least the Police killed the perp, one less low life on the streets....Ooophs, we're supposed to focus on happy things, sorry.

So then, here's little something to calm us down after the awful week we've been having with even more assaults on our Liberties and Freedoms. There is only so much bad news a Bunni can stand, so now it's time to sit back and smile

There, that's better.......Now, You MUST go directly to the link below! I have an update on my post several weeks ago of "Opie" the No Treat's from Obama Doggie! His Mom wrote me a message about him, & my update also shows the link of most popular video's on Glenn Beck, who picked him up! This is happy news & a very nice note from his wonderful Owner. She & her family are God Fearing Patriots who are thrilled by Opies Fame!

Enjoy, and a very happy start to the weekend, ~ Bunni

Inglourious Basterds, History Revised

Hello dear readers, It's time for another wonderful movie review from your Pal, Bunni!

I saw Inglourious Basterds yesterday, lst showing when it opened, it’s cheaper that way, the big stadium seater not to far from me, just a walk and bus ride.

Close to a nice place for lunch afterwards, and I avoided the drenching downpours later in the day, so it was all good and a great way to spend my usual Friday’s off.

I’m not a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino. I have previously gotten his films from the Library, the early ones were the best; Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill # 1, (kind of). The last few I could do without, Death Proof, just not my idea of great action and suspense, too campy, trashy, blood spurting for the sake of blood for my tastes.

So, that being said, I decided to see this new offering, his seventh full-length film (10 years in the making!) in the cinema specifically because of Brat Pitt’s hilarious looking character and over the top performance as Lt. Aldo “the Apache” Raine, the Nazi-scalping leader of the “Basterds”, Jewish-American Soldiers out to kill as many Nazi’s as possible. Aldo is an ex moonshiner, good-‘ol-boy from the deep south, Tennessee I believe. His accent alone is worth the price of admission. He is so funny in his tone and delivery, than even when he’s speaking serious lines, they turn out to be comical.

Another great performance is from the main villainous character; German SS Officer Col. Hans Landa, “the Jew Hunter”, played to perfection by Christoph Waltz, who won the Best Actor Prize at Cannes for this portrayal. The two female leads are beautiful and spot on in their characterizations. The lovely “Shosanna”, Melanie Laurent, who escapes certain death in the opening chapter to reemerge as the owner of a cinema in France, 1943, and the Beautiful double agent “Bridget von Hammersmark” Diane Kruger, who gets herself into some daring and complicated exploits.

This film is 2 and ½ hours long! So eat, drink and fortify yourself before. It would take too long for me to write about all the various chapters, plot twists and other elements in this review…I’m sure you can find other reviews on line that do so, if you so desire.

The short of it is….if you can consider anything in this film short:

It opens in a German, Nazi occupied Country, France in 1941, this is “Chapter 1”. Each subsequent chapter tells a different part of the story, all relating to the climatic ending in the Cinema owned by Shosanna, where history is re-written, some would say for the better.

This being a Tarantino flick, the buildups to the action are sometimes tediously long, so long in fact that it gets to be annoying. You find yourself thinking, “alright already, enough of this nonsense, you are just grandstanding”. I feel a great movie should totally immerse yourself in the action, not take you out of the plot to wonder to yourself when the director is going to get on with it. Quentin is too full of himself and his technique. He is sometimes all over the map, with many styles and genres, it can get tedious. Granted, the bulk of the movie has very good technique and action, when it finally arrives. But, the dragging out scenes just for the sake of suspense is annoying.

Still this is a minor criticism, and it might be just me, so don’t let that deter you. Plus, being a movie about World War II, it is devoid of any battle scenes, or much fighting action, per say. You get a smattering of blood and violence at the end of the various chapters/vinettes, and by then you are so sick of waiting for something to happen, it's like, ok, ho hum, it's about time, what next?

The ending, however, is worth the wait, and there are some real surprises! The final conclusion is kind of predictable, given what our Hero, Aldo, likes to do. The music is also very good and well placed for the action. How the Giorgio Moroder hit from “Cat People” sung by David Bowie makes it into there and is effective is testament to Tarantino’s quirky filmmaking, and it does work!

Well, enough of my ruminations, here is the official trailer for your enjoyment!

You might have noticed that Brad Pitt is making the rounds and promoting this movie very heavily. Some interesting quotes of his are below, from his various interviews:

July 28th – He’s a domesticated man

At the Berlin premier of “Basterds”, Brad revealed his new curfew to the London Daily Mail: I’m a dad now – my partying ends at 6 p.m.”

Aug. 10th – He’s a great role model

At the Hollywood premier, he joked that he took his character home with him to the family: “I did! I’d tell those little basterds to get out there and start scalpin”! And: “I’m just a drunk!”

Aug. 13th – He’s not going to be elected in New Orleans any time soon

In an interview on the “Today” show, Brad graciously dismisses talk of becoming a candidate: “I’m running on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization & taxation of marijuana platform, I don’t have a chance of being elected”.

Brad, I'd vote for you anytime! See some cinematic Basterds, people, you'll have fun! Lord knows we see enough REAL BASTARDS in the news every day ;-).

Triumph Goes to the Pup Hotel

Our Fav Pervy Pooch, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, was on Conan last Friday Night!

I signed on at the tail end (hee hee), and missed the whole thing. Well, thank goodness for YouTube, because I found the clip. It's also on Conan's site, but then you can't save "My Favorites", which I have done for you, check them out!

Don't be scared off by the seemingly long length, it's funny as hell and goes by fast.
If you want to get to the end part, which is very silly, it's around 5 minutes in.

My Patriotic Pals, with all the distressing news and political video's lately, and more horror stories out of the obummer camp daily, such as deadly vaccines, witches and bitches practicing Voodo in the White House, plus endless home foreclosures and job losses, I thought it would be nice for some Comic diversion! I Hope you liked. Triumph had been MIA, I"m glad he's back.

In Honor of the Air Force

It's time for the 51st Annual
Air & Water Show.
I have gone many times
over the years, but not this year. I'm not in the mood
to fight the crowds. The U.S.A.F. F-16 Thunderbirds are the best,
with their death defying formations. Totally loud & awesome.

Plus, this is the lst year it is streaming live
Check it out, Live Sun. 8/16, tomorrow
from 10 am until 4 pm.
It's hotter than hell out here today & tomorrow,
so I'm chilling (as much as I can without A/C)
here at home watching the show! Incredible stuff, people.

In honor of our Great U.S. Air Force and the wonderful planes & pilots
who keep us safe, here is a cool video, played to the tune of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck".

Shout out to AD/DC as well. They were in Chicago last night!
Rock on dudes, Summer fun.

A Dog with More Sense than Liberals

Here is an adorable video of a very smart
and discerning poochie!

Opie the Poochie has more sense than the 62 million dolts that voted for 0,
I think the Doggie should be President, the country would be better off at this point!

UPDATE, UPDATE: When I put Opie on my site back on Aug. 8th, I wrote his mother a message from my YouTube Channel, telling her Opie was going to be "big in the blogosphere" Can I pick them or what? At that time he only had like 200,000 views..."only" ..ha ha. Now he has about 2 1/2 MILLION! Go OPIE, GO!

I have been in message communications with his owner, thru my YouTube channel, she is a friend of mine over there. She is also a God fearing Patriot who is quite overwhelmed & very happy with Opie's fame. This was her message to me recently, I'm sure she'd like my loyal readers to see it:

"I just can hardly believe how many hits Opie has had! We've been very proud of him. I keep telling him he's a star, but of course he couldn't care less. He's just enjoying summertime and following my husband around in his garden! He's an anonymous star though as only our family and close friends know who he really is. We've received some absolutely beautiful messages from people but also a few really bad ones.
I just don't think some people believe we should disagree at all with what this president is doing to our country.

Our daughter had told us she had seen this on Glenn Beck also. Thanks again and Opie sends his love. God Bless You!!

Thanks so much, Bunni, I may update Opie sometime! We only have a digital camera, which is what we made the video with. Our daughter gave it to us last year. I didn't even know for a long time that it did videos. I just mostly did e-mail and simple things. You take care! God Bless!!

I let her know the other day that Glenn Beck has Opie featured as a top rated video on his site. She is just thrilled by it all. She strives to keep Opie's identity secret, only their friends/family know who he really is. She shot the video with a camera phone that her granddaughter showed her how to use! God Bless Smart Poochies & their Patriotic Owners. Opie might have another video up soon one of these days, I urged her to record something else. When it's online, you'll see it here First!

Use it while you have it!
